With autumn well underway, the backpacks 101 Project is delighted to let you know that 108 children and teens received new backpacks filled with supplies to get the year started. Thanks to you and our growing list of business donors, we were able to, once again, surpass our goal. Please see our list of individual and business donors on our blog.
This year the filled backpacks went to the Women’s Habitat, Ernestine’s Women’s Shelter and also Youth Without Shelter. On top of the 108 bags, Community Trust donated 500 tote bags which were not only distributed to the shelters but also filled with a few school supplies and delivered to the Daily Bread Food and Elisa House. We also sent sent a portion to a group who will be travelling to Haiti to work at an orphanage. This means that hundreds of children and youths were touched by your generosity.
The project keeps on giving…
Community Trust has recently donated 50 brand new cozy fleece blankets. My son, Ethan, would like us to distribute some to the homeless on the streets in downtown Toronto, which I think is a great idea. We will also donate some to the shelters. We would love to be able to add a little something to these blankets to make them extra special as the cold weather approaches. If you would like to donate a pair of new adult gloves or mittens or a new or very gently used stuffed animal, we will wrap up the blankets together with the gloves or stuffed animal and deliver them this fall.
The Backpacks 101 appreciates your ongoing support. Please feel free to pass on this email to any interested friends or family. Thank you again and please watch the blog at www.backpacks101.org
